In this section of TheMedicalStudent.com we attempt to give the reader a solid general overview of Orthopaedics without the waffle, which as you may by now know, is the whole philosophy from which MAC Medical Publications was born. Remember this website only contains a fraction of the information found within the ‘Medicine for Medical Students’ textbook.
Orthopaedics is the study of how forces affect the body's skeleton. If you can understand these forces work over time (in chronic conditions) or acutely (in fractures), you will be on your way to mastering this interesting field of medicine. Of course there are some aspects of orthopaedics that are an exception to this, e.g. infection, metabolic disorders, etc.
