Colles Fracture:

• a type of distal radius fracture in osteoporotic bone within 1 inch of the wrist joint, common in post menopausal women
• usually due to Fall On Out Stretched Hand (FOOSH)
• check neurovascular status (median nerve can be damaged)
• if displaced reduction is needed with plaster cast immobilisation + internal/external fixation in more severe fractures
