Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
- compression of median nerve as it passes through the carpel tunnel Þpain (worse at night), paraesthesia & wasting of thenar eminence muscle
- causes: idiopathic, pregnancy, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), tumours, endocrine diseases (common in diabetes & acromegaly)
- associated with a +’ve phalen’s & tinel’s sign
- treat with: NSAIDs , splinting +/- surgical decompression
